Congress is not in a hurry to decide its Legislature Party leader in Maharashtra and Haryana, where it had finished third in the just concluded Assembly polls. "In none of the states, we are going to get the Leader of the Opposition status and therefore why should we hurry?" remarked a senior leader when asked when the Legislature Party meetings in the two states are being convened.

The first session of the newly elected Haryana Assembly is to start on November 3. Leaders other than Prithviraj Chavan and Bhupinder Signh Hooda are expected be appointed to the post as Congress refrains from reappointing defeated Chief Ministers, the leader said. Congress has been facing a string of defeats since its debacle in the Lok Sabha polls in May in which it got the lowest ever tally of 44.
