The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress has cleared names of 65 candidates for Haryana elections, though  no decision has been taken about remaining 25. Even as the process of filing of nominations for the elections began on Saturday, Congress has not formally announced any candidates. The six hour long meeting headed by party president Sonia Gandhi failed to come to common consensus.

In 50 out of the 65 names finalised, there was already near unity. MLA's who recently came under scanner for demanding money for change of land use also got nomination.  Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is expected to choose another constituency apart from Kiloi Sampla, the one he currently represents. The seats shortlisted are Baroda, Panipat Rural and Indri, but no decision has been taken. The list of Congress candidates is likely to be announced after around two days.
