Asserting that his government would not compromise on the security of the north-east, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre works with the mantra of development.

"We will fulfill our promises; there will be no compromise on the security of the north-east. I can say with confidence that the BJP government works with one issue, one mantra which is development," he said. The Prime Minister further said it was the BJP workers who ensured the party's splendid victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

"The BJP contested elections on the issue of development, which made other people, talk about the issue too," he said while addressing the BJP workers in Guwahati. Speaking about the party's membership drive, the Prime Minister said: "Like you all, I am also a small worker of the BJP. Our national president has given us some work. The work is of the membership drive in which one has to give a missed call and become members of the BJP."

Addressing the conference of the Director Generals of Police in Guwahati earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi said that a strong intelligence network plays pivotal role in the country's security. Focusing on the police force and intelligence agencies, the Prime Minister said that he wanted a force which takes care of the country's law and order in an efficient manner.
