Delhi’ Patiala House Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of former BSP leader Rakesh Pandey’s son Ashish Pandey in connection with the 5-star hotel brawl, during which Pandey had brandished a gun at a couple and threatened them. The incident came to light after the clip of the brawl went viral on social media.

The court not only rejected his bail but also sent him to judicial custody till Monday.

Amid chaos on Thursday, Ashish Pandey had surrendered before Delhi's Patiala House court.

During the hearing, the counsel appearing for the Delhi police stated the weapon needs to be recovered to verify the licence and the custody of Ashish is required to ascertain the whereabouts of other people seen in the video along with him.

The court allowed the Delhi police to question him in custody for a day. The police have seized his BMW car in which he was seated when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, in a video message, Ashish Pandey stated he was being made a victim of media trial. "I'm being portrayed as if I am a terrorist and the country's police are looking for me. A lookout circular was also issued. I am not denying the incident which occurred that night. I got to know about it after the video went viral. But the incident is being shown from one perspective only in favour of the other person," he said.

Ashish further said that if the CCTV footages are scanned it will show who fought with whom and who entered the ladies' toilet. "Yes I did go to my car and carried my licenced weapon but neither did I threaten to kill anyone nor did I point the gun at anyone. The gun was in my hand and on the side near my leg," he said.
