RLD leader and former Mathura MP Jayant Chaudhary on Friday scotched speculation of alliance with the Samajwadi Party in UP and said the meeting between party leader Amar Singh and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was just a "coincidence".

"A meeting of national leaders doesn't mean that alliance talks are going on," he said.

Chaudhary, the son of Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh, was here to inaugurate a table tennis tournament at Maha Maya Stadium. He told reporters that RLD's alliance with UPA was intact.

Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh and Yadav shared dais on August 5 after about four years. Singh, a former national general secretary of SP, had lost Lok Sabha poll on a RLD ticket from Fatehpur Sikri.

Chaudhary, who also lost Mathura seat to BJP's Hema Malini in the Lok Sabha polls, attacked the UP government over plight of the sugarcane farmers.

He claimed, "The deaf and dumb state government is not at all concerned about the woes of farmers and in particular sugarcane growers."

He claimed that farmers are facing financial crisis and are unable to pay school fees of their children. "RLD had always been raising voice in favour of sugarcane farmers and for payment of their arrears," he said.

He also took on the ruling SP over law and order situation in the state. "Crime graph in UP is soaring day by day. Police officers are working as agents of Samajwadi Party instead of performing their duty rationally," he said. "Communal riots in UP are state-sponsored and BJP is not leaving any chance to encash the volatile feelings of Hindus.

Both parties are hand in glove on the issue of flaring up the communal riots," said Chaudhary.

When asked about the bungalow in Delhi alloted to him as an MP, which he is supposed to vacate, he said, "Now the central government has served a notice to our family to vacate the premises... We have found another location and will shift there soon. It is no issue for RLD or our family," he said.
