Angry RJD leader and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi retorts: Sushil Modi can have Nitish Kumar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s claims that attempts were being made to “politically assassinate” him by spreading “rumours” of his increasing proximity with BJP has raked up a political war of words in the state, where the winter session of the legislature is currently underway.
The Opposition BJP hit back at Nitish saying he never had to mention “political murder” during his 17 years association with the saffron party. “When Nitish was with us, his political career didn’t end. In fact, his stature grew. He was most comfortable with the BJP
either as the Union Railways Minister or as the Bihar CM. But, ever since he is with Lalu Prasad, Nitish’s stature has gone down. If he continues to work with them for some more time, his political career will surely end,” said former deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday.
The Bihar unit of the saffron party, however, seemed to be warming up to Nitish with his former deputy Modi as well as BJP spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha advising Nitish to “rethink” about his alliance with the RJD and Congress. The statement comes in the backdrop of BJP president Amit Shah and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan praising Nitish for his pro-demonetization stand.
“Nitish Kumar talks of action against corruption and black money. But, no Chief Minister can tackle corruption while being in alliance with RJD and Congress. He should rethink about it,” Modi said, terming the seven years of NDA rule in Bihar under Nitish Kumar as the state’s “golden era”.
Reacting to queries of “Modi inviting Nitish back to the NDA”, former chief minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s better half Rabri Devi kicked off another controversy when she said “Nitish Kumar ko utha ke le jaye Modi ji… le jaye behen se apni shaadi kara lein (Modi can take Nitish Kumar and get him married to his sister).”
Rabri later clarified to media persons that she had made the statement in a lighter vein. “Media wale bole Sushil Kumar Modi kahe hain Nitish Kumar RJD chhor BJP aajaye, hum bole Modi ji Nitish ko utha lejaaye. Par isme kya aapatti ki baat hai? Thoda hassi mazzak karliya to kya? Sabhi karte hain na?” she told reporters.
RJD MLA Bhai Virendra told reporters the elder partner in the Mahagathbandhan had given Nitish “a new life” by handing him the reins of the state.
Meanwhile, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Choudhary reacted to BJP’s allegation that Nitish’s political murder will be due to his alliance with the RJD and Congress, and said, “Sau chuhe khakar, BJP chali haj ko”. It may be mentioned that Nitish, after addressing JD (U)’s legislature party meeting late on Monday evening, had said, he supported demonetization but that did not mean that he was re-uniting with the BJP and that some people were plotting for his political murder by spreading such lies.
