Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s remark that he inducted poll strategist Prashant Kishor in Janata Dal (U) and elevated him as his Number 2 in the party on BJP president Amit Shah’s suggestion kicked up a political storm in Bihar with the Opposition targeting the JD-U as “BJP’s advanced version.”

Speaking at a private event in Patna, Kumar said he had received two phone calls from Shah asking him to induct Kishor into JD-U. “He had with worked us during the 2015 assembly polls and Shah asked me twice to take him into JD-U,” Kumar said when asked if Kishor was his political successor. He, however, ruled out the possibility saying it was not a monarchy to talk in terms of successors.
