Bihar's Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday accused his former boss and neighbour Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of snooping in his private life by installing high-definition CCTV cameras on the walls bordering his residence.

In a series of tweets, Tejashwi lashed out at Nitish for installing 360 degree HD cameras on the boundary wall between their residences, terming it infringement of his privacy. "Bihar CM's residence is surrounded by main roads from 3 sides and Leader of Opposition's residence from the fourth side. But CM felt the need for CCTV only on the wall bordering his political adversary's residence? Someone should tell him that these petty tricks will prove futile!," he tweeted.

Tejashwi also posted some photographs and a video of the CCTV camera and the portions of his 5, Deshratna Marg residence, which are "under the direct coverage of the CCTV cameras". "Nitishji, your police and you have all rights to secure your residence, but not to peek and spy into my bedroom, kitchen and office. I have no problems with you installing cameras outside my main gate," the RJD leader said. In the video shared by Tejashwi he said that three bedrooms, kitchen, office and lawn of his home are "within the camera's glare".

He said, "Is this Nitishji's paranoia for security or other insecurities, frustrations and apprehensions? Why does the CM need a camera only there despite a permanent security check post? Bihar government must tighten the security whenever required for the CM who already has Z+ category and even resides in high security zone, but is it preferable to install high resolution HD CCTV cameras facing, snooping and interfering the privacy of neighbour?"

Raking up the law and order issues in Bihar, Tejashwi said, "With every passing second a heinous crime is committed in Patna region, leave alone the whole State! But autocratic insecure CM is more bothered about snooping into day to day activities of the Opponents and infringing their privacy rather than the security of the citizens!"

Hitting out at Nitish for occupying "three chief ministerial bungalows and one exclusive plush suite in Bihar Bhawan", he said, "Why self proclaimed austere CM of a poor State has this obsession with luxury and grandeur? Has he got any morality to answer this?"
