Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar On Wednesday ordered a high level probe into the death of a youth in a private nursing home in the wee hours after he was thrashed allegedly by policemen in Kishanganj district a week ago.
The Chief Minister has spoken to Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and Director General of Police P K Thakur to find out the facts of the thrashing of the 23 year-old Shyam Narayan Bharadwaj alias Siku Raj in Kishanganj, an official release said.

Kumar has also ordered a high level probe by senior IPS and IAS officials who will go to Kishanganj for enquiry and submit a report at the earliest, it said. Meanwhile, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Purnia range, Ram Narayan Singh has already rushed to Kishanganj to probe the incident, an official report from Kishanganj said. According to the FIR lodged by the deceased's father, the youth, a native of Mundera village in Gaya district, was thrashed allegedly by some policemen in Kishanganj hours after BSF authorities had handed him over to the police for taking him to hospital after he had fainted during fitness test for recruitment in BSF on July one last.

The policemen instead of taking him to hospital had allegedly thrashed him before dumping him at Kishanganj railway station where a woman had given him Rs 30 to take a train to Patna, the FIR said. The injured youth had contacted his father Amrendra Narayan Bharadwaj who reached Patna and took him to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where his condition deteriorated and he was subsequently admitted to a private nursing home where he died this morning.

His father had lodged an FIR with the Gandhi Maidan police station yesterday against unidentified policemen in Kishanganj charging them with brutal thrashing of his son, police officials said.
