A day after the suspected ISI operative Samshul Hoda, a prime accused in the Kanpur train derailment case, was deported to Nepal from Dubai, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took into custody three other suspects in the case.

The probe agency on Tuesday said that three suspects — Moti Paswan, Uma Shanker and Mukesh Yadav — had been taken on police remand from the Bihar Police in connection with the Motihari train derailment case, adding that they would be produced in a special court in Patna on February 14.

Hoda, 48, was arrested by a special team of Nepal Police along with three others.

Hoda was arrested at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday soon after he was brought to Nepal from Dubai in coordination with Interpol,

Sources said an NIA team might travel to Nepal to interrogate the accused. The three other arrested by the police in Nepal are Brij Kishor Giri, Ashish Singh and Umesh Kumar Kurmi, all from Kalaiya district in that country.

Last month Union Home Ministry had handed over the Ghorasahan (Motihari), Indore-Patna Express train derailment and Hirakhand Express train derailment cases to the NIA to probe the sabotage angle and unravel any larger conspiracy.

This was after claims by the Bihar Police that the derailment of the Indore-Patna Express, in which 150 people were killed and another 200 were injured, was the ISI’s handiwork.

The Bihar Police had said that Moti Paswan, Uma Shanker and Mukesh Yadav were paid by suspected ISI agent Brij Kishore Giri for planting IEDs at Ghorasahan railway station in Motihari on October 1 last year.

NIA sources said that the preliminary probe suggests that Giri was in touch with Hoda, who is said to be a major fake Indian currency notes operator.
