In the ongoing terror-funding case probe, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) has now grilled Hurriyat chief, Syed Ali Shah Geelani's younger son Naseem, for the third time in the national capital. Along with him, a Kashmir traders' body chief, Yasin Mohammad Khan, and research scholar Aala Fazili have also been called in for interrogation.

Khan, chairman of the Kashmir Economic Alliance and president of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, and Fazili, who is pursuing a PhD in Pharmacy at Kashmir University, appeared for questioning at the NIA headquarters on Monday. Their questioning is to continue on Tuesday.

Both Khan and Fazili had received the NIA summons three days ago, leading to protests against the investigative body. However, the duo has decided to cooperate and appeared before the NIA.

Fazili, a resident of central Kashmir's Budgam district, had stated that he was not aware as to why he was being questioned. "I have never been summoned in any case by the local police," said Fazili.

Meanwhile, even Naseem said he was clueless why he had been summoned a third time, adding the agency had already grilled him for 14 days. Naseem teaches at the Agriculture University in Kashmir.

In May this year, the NIA had registered an FIR where they alleged they received information that Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jammat-ud-Dawah and the secessionist and separatist leaders, including members and cadres of the Hurriyat Conference, have been acting in connivance with active militants for raising, receiving and collecting funds — both domestically and abroad — through various illegal channels.
