In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old woman was on Sunday repeatedly stabbed to death by a stalker in the national capital, two months after the victim registered a complaint against him.

The incident took place near the victim's house in West Delhi's Inderpuri. According to Times of India, Laxmi, a mother of two, was stabbed by the accused Sanjay Kumar, who had been harassing her for six years.

On Sunday evening, Kumar followed Laxmi on her way back from work. When she stopped at a grocery store to buy milk, Kumar slit his wrist with a kitchen knife, and later attacked her when she reached an abandoned park, family members of the victim said.

However, when she escaped, Kumar chased her and stabbed her in the stomach. He also stabbed himself, they said. Both of them were rushed to the hospital where the victim was declared dead on arrival. Kumar succumbed to his wounds on Monday.

According to the report, the police had arrested Kumar after the complaint has been filed against him, but the matter was resolved when his family gave the police a written undertaking saying he would not cause trouble for the victim. Despite this, Kumar would also call Laxmi several times a day asking her to meet him. He had also reportedly threatened her 11-year-old and 7-year-old children.
