New CAG Mehrishi visits Shrinath Temple in Nathdwara

A day after his appointment as new comptroller and auditor general (CAG), Rajiv Mehrishi went nowhere but to a temple in his home state, Rajasthan. The top officer appointed to constitutional post went to Shrinath Temple in Nathdwara and sought divine blessings.

The district collector and excise commissioner received Mehrishi who frequently visits the famous temple. Mehrishi, after performing puja at the temple, prayed for the welfare of the state and the nation. He was accompanied by wife Meira Mehrishi, who is a member of the CM’s advisory council and his son.

According to the sources, the top bureaucrat has stayed overnight to attend morning prayer at the temple on Saturday. Mehrishi, while talking to Zee Rajasthan said that he would assume office on September 25. He will have a three-year term as CAG.

Mehrishi prior to being appointed as CAG was the Union home secretary for two years. Prior to it, he was the secretary finance in the department of economic affairs and was made the chief secretary of Rajasthan when chief minister Vasundhara Raje swept to power in December 2013 before he went to Delhi on deputation in October 2014.
