A new born baby girl was found abandoned in a dumping ground in Haryana’s Gurgaon township on Wednesday.
After being found in the garbage, the infant was admitted to the nearest government hospital.
Doctor Umesh Mehta, a pediatrician at the hospital, said the infant was born pre-mature and her body was bruised.
“The baby is pre-term and has a low birth rate, and therefore, she is going through the problems that a pre-mature child would face. There are few injury marks on her body, but there is nothing serious. But she is having all the problems of pre-maturity and low birth rate. There are abrasions, may be she was dropped, so she has some abrasions,” said Mehta.
“She is going through the problems faced by a pre-mature child and these are expected. We are taking care of her,” he added.
Of late there has been a surge in the number of cases of baby girls being abandoned by their parents.
Recently, two-year-old battered baby Falak died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in New Delhi, after she was admitted in the hospital in January with fractured skull, bruises and human bites marks all over her body.
A similar incident had sent shock waves when a three-day old baby girl was found abandoned near a bus stand in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
