Taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to task on the issue of inflation, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that for the first time in Indian history the price of dal (lentils) has reached a sky-high amount of Rs. 200/kg.

"When Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, he said he will reduce prices, but now dal is Rs. 200/kg. Never in history has this happened. Modi ji should fulfil his promises," Gandhi told reporters here.
Interacting with farmers at Salon, Gandhi said, "Modi ji made a promise that he would provide electricity for 24 hours a day. But it is only available for four-five hours. He has taken the land of the farmers and has given them to two-three of his favourite businessmen. We will fight for your rights and contest in the Legislative Assembly election and the Lok Sabha."

"The (BJP) government has failed to fulfill its promises. He (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) should give Rs. 15 lakh to each farmer or leave". "I will raise the issues pertaining to farmers in Parliament," he said accusing the Modi government of not delivering on the poll promises.
