'Netaji' Mulayam Singh went 'mulayam' on rapists, says Narendra Modi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Friday attacked Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for his rape remark, saying that instead of being tough he has actually gone soft on those who rape women.

"There is a problem with Netaji. His problem is that the issues on which he should be 'mulayam' (soft), he becomes tough, and issues on which he should be tough, he becomes soft on them. You should be tough on those who rape our sisters and daughters. But he actually became soft on them," said Modi while addressing a rally here. He also raked up issue of living conditions in relief camps housing the victims of Muzaffarnagar riots.

"There were riots here. Due to cold kids were dying in the relief camps. At that time also he should have been soft. He should have cared for the lives of those kids. But he could not do that," he added. He attacked both Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati and Mulayam, saying that some people are busy in building elephant parks, while some are busy on a lion safari. "The government here cares for elephants and lions but they are not bothered about the people," he added.

He also said that in these elections there will many states where the Congress will not be able to open its account.

"In these elections, there won't be any state where the Congress will get the opportunity to touch two digit figures. If you want a change in your lives than you have to change the government in Delhi, and then in Lucknow," he added.
