Ahead BJP national president Amit Shah’s visit to West Bengal on April 8-9 and April 19-20, state BJP leadership is apprehensive that Netaji Indoor Stadium would not be made available for Shah’s meeting.

According to Shah’s schedule, he will conduct a meeting in north Bengal on April 8 and will chair a meeting with members of party’s state youth wing on April 9. Accordingly, state BJP has applied for hiring Netaji Indoor Stadium for the purpose but senior BJP leaders at the party headquarters on Mulidhar Sen Lane in Central Kolkata said that they have been informed the venue would not be available on April 9.

Previously, the state government had denied Shah the venue citing different reasons. "This is an example of vendetta-politics of the TMC-led government,” state BJP president Dilip Ghosh said on Wednesday.

Earlier when the state didn’t allow the public meeting of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-chief Mohan Bhagwat, they moved court and got the permission. Asked if the BJP will follow suit, Ghosh said that the state government was trying to put stumbling blocks on the way of BJP’s every event.

He said: "In that case we will have to move court every time. We have already started looking for an alternative venue for the meeting."

Netaji Indoor Stadium is under the state sports department. Sources in the department said that the application of BJP is under consideration and no decision has been taken yet about its rejection.

On the other hand, the state BJP yuva morcha is preparing itself to make Shah’s meeting a roaring success. Several meetings of the youth cell at different districts have been conducted so far.

Party sources said members of the youth wing have been instructed to build resistance against the atrocities of TMC and that is why meetings of Yuva Morcha are being convened at every zone. Shah will draw a roadmap for the youth during his meeting, instructing them how to tackle violence unleashed by the ruling regime.
