Already battling Saturday's high intensity earthquake and aftershocks, major parts of Bihar were  hit by thundersquall hampering relief work.

Strong wind was experienced in Patna and other parts of Bihar this afternoon which was followed by rain.

Due to inclement weather Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's programme to Raxual has been rescheduled and now he would go to the area, along Indo-Nepal border, by road instead of helicopter, Chief Minister's Office said.

Kumar is scheduled to visit camps at Raxual and hold meeting with officials to take stock of relief work at Raxual where the maximum number of people from Pokhra and other parts of Nepal were arriving, District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) East Champaran district Madhusudan Prasad told PTI.

Director State Meteorological Department AK Sen said the thundersquall was due to cyclonic circulation arising from Bay of Bengal formed near Jharkhand. He said an alert has been sent to the state government about the thundersquall and moderate rainfall in almost half of the districts of Bihar till April 30.

Sen said the rains would be moderate. Meanwhile strong gale and rains were experienced in major parts of Bihar including East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga and elsewhere.
