Nepal police on Friday arrested underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's associate Yunus Miya Ansari along with three Pakistani and two Nepalese citizens possessing counterfeit Indian currency amounting to over Rs 7.5 crores, from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

As per the police, Ansari along with others was arrested at 9:30 AM on Friday from the airport when they came to receive the counterfeit Indian Bank Notes.

"We have arrested Yunus Miya Ansari along with 3 Pakistanis and 2 Nepali from the Tribhuwan International Airport with counterfeit Indian Bank Notes," said Deputy Inspector General Bishwo Raj Pokharel, Nepal Police spokesman. "They came to Nepal from Qatar with the fake Indian currencies but their passport shows that their travel starts from Pakistan."

"We have recovered four suitcases from them, where fake currency amounting to 7 crores 67 lakhs was found," he added.

Ansari, also said to have links with underground groups from Pakistan, has been previously investigated in several similar incidents and has been linked with the Dawood Ibrahim gang.

Dawood Ibrahim afraid of Modi's return to power, meets ISI officials: Intelligence sources

Ibrahim, who is currently living in Pakistan for over two decades now, is said to be "very afraid" after the return of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government to power, sources from Intelligence agencies told Zee News.

According to the sources, the actions taken by the Modi government after coming to power 2014 against Dawood and his aides had left him in an insecure position and he was hopeful of having 'good times' again after the defeat of the BJP in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. That Modi has again claimed a historic win has left Dawood completely rattled, sources said.

He has reportedly called some senior officers of Pakistan's Intelligence agency ISI to express his fear. Sources revealed that Dawood has expressed serious concerns over PM Modi's return and India's growing ties with the US and Israel.

Dawood has reportedly urged the ISI and Pakistan Army to keep him safe from Indian security agencies.

Experts maintain that after succeeding in getting the UN to declare Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist, the Indian government would now go after Dawood Ibrahim.

Senior journalist S Balakrishnan said that National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is already working on plans to decimate Dawood's gang and it is likely that Dawood would meet his fate in the coming years.
