Trinamool Congress all-India General Secretary Mukul Roy, who was interviewed by the CBI in connection with the Saradha chitfund investigation, today said neither he nor his party was involved in any way with the scam.
"I reassert both as a person or as a party custodian that neither I nor my party is involved in the Saradha issue in any way," Roy, also a Rajya Sabha MP, said here.

Campaigning for Mamata Bala Thakur, TMC candidate for the Bongaon Lok Sabha seat, the senior Trinamool leader said, "Whenever elections come, the Saradha issue crops up. It started during the panchayat elections in 2013." "The same happened before the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and now it has cropped up again," Roy said, claiming it was a motivated and mischievous campaign to malign his party.

Stating that he was grateful to the people of Bengal, Roy said, "I saw the love and anxiety of the people of Bengal for me the day the investigating agency called me." Claiming that the designs of opposition parties in the state would not be successful, the TMC leader said, "There is no doubt about winning, its only about increase in margin of votes by which our candidate will win as the people will reiterate their faith in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's development mantra." The former Railway minister was quizzed by the CBI on January 30 in connection with the multi-crore Saradha scam.
