If there is anything that pinches the residents of Neendar area, it is its backwardness despite the locality being a part of Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency, one of the eight constituencies of Jaipur city.
According to the locals, despite being a part of the city no development has taken place in the area for the last so many years and Neendar still remains a rural area despite being less than 10 kms from multi-storey buildings, shopping malls, multiplexes and commercial centres.
“Neendar is a part of Ward Number 1 of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, but ironically the people neither know the meaning of mayor nor they have seen her,” said Raju Chauhan, a local.
Locals say that area is near to Harmada and has been known for mining. But not a single development work has taken place in past several years, be it roads, or any other infrastructure.
“In every elections, be it Assembly, Lok Sabha, JMC or panchayat, leaders make tall claims but not an inch of work has been done here. The main reason is that state highway that connects Jaipur to Sikar is hardly one or two kms away and you enter the Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency. So leaders have never been interested in developing this area,” said Madan Singh, a villager.
“As Neendar has been known for mining and has a rock bed so it doesn’t attract the commercial constructions. Had scenario been different, builders would have purchased land hare for the multi-storey buildings leading to development of area,” said a local.
