Need to make wildlife conservation 'people's movement': Prakash Javadekar

Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday called for the emphasis on making wildlife conservation a 'people's movement'.

Speaking at the 10th meeting of the National Tiger Conservation Authority, Javadekar assured that the present government was for conservation along with progress, and mentioned the conservation of tigers as 'critical'.

Javadekar also informed that the National Tiger Conservation Authority, in collaboration with Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, would be starting a tiger tracking programme, where management information system (MIS) based programmes would help control wildlife crimes and also detect fires and floods.

With projects in 47 reserves spanning 18 states, the National Tiger Conservation Authority has been the premier agency in the field of tiger conservation for over 40 years.
