The controversy over suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Pune when a case was registered against Aiyar based on a complaint given by BJP MP Amar Sable.
Sable had approached Nigdi police station on Friday, claiming that the Congress leader's remark against the PM was deliberate.
Based on his application, Nigdi police registered a non-cognisable case against Aiyar on Sunday.
Senior police inspector Vijay Palsule, in-charge of Nigdi station, told DNA: "We had received the complaint application from Sable. In The MP has claimed that he was watching Aiyar's news conference in Nigdi when he heard his statement against the PM. Taking objection against the statement, he had given the complaint. Based on his complaint we have registered NC (non-cognisable) case against Aiyar."
