National Commission for Women (NCW) member Nirmala Samant said on Tuesday that all the protection and other help required by the Meerut gang rape victim will be provided to her. Samant told ANI, "The inquiry and action of police is going on in the Meerut rape case. Any sort of communal violence should not erupt while the investigation takes place. And strict action has to be taken against the violence done on women."

"The matter is very serious and I myself will talk to the DM and police of the state. It is necessary to control the situation. We will give all the protection and other help required to the victim," she added. A 20-year-old teacher of Hindi and English in the Sarawa village madrasa in Kharkhauda had claimed that she was gang- raped and forced to adopt the religion of a particular community and to change her name.

The woman reportedly managed to escape from the kidnappers on August 2. Afterwards, she contacted her family who rescued her. A complaint was also filed later with the police.
