When Himanchali Sahu switched on the television Tuesday afternoon, she watched distraught as channels flashed the news of her husband Achyutanand's death in an attack by Naxals in Chhattisgarh.

"We got the news from television," said an inconsolable Himanchali.

She and the Doordarshan cameraman were to celebrate their third year anniversary in February, said a family member.

The couple had got married in February 2016.

The relative said this was the second tragedy to befall Himanchali as she had suffered a miscarriage one-and-a-half years ago.

She left for Odisha along with his uncle around 4.30 pm for her husband's last rites.

The couple was staying in Bhagwati Garden Extension area near Dwarka Mod for the last two years.

Neighbours said Himanchali was a homemaker and the couple always looked happy together.

"They looked like a happy couple and it is difficult to believe he is no more," said one of the neighbours.

Another neighbour said Achyutanand was a "generous man".

"He liked this locality and the house he was staying in. He would always greet us with a smile. We will miss his friendly nature," said Parveen, one of the couple's neighbours.

Two policemen and Achyutanand Sahu were killed and two others injured Tuesday when around 100 Naxals attacked a security patrol party in poll-bound Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said.

Two to three naxals were also believed to be killed in retaliatory action by the security forces after the ambush in a forest area.
