Another sex scandal has hit the Indian Navy on a day defence minister AK Antony asked the navy brass to take sternest action against officers involved in such “inappropriate behaviour”.

On Tuesday, wife of a Lieutenant Commander posted at Karwar naval base alleged that he forced her “to get sexually involved with his colleagues and consume alcohol”. The 27-year-old woman also claimed that he threatened to post nude pictures of her on social networking sites if she reported it to anyone.

The Lieutenant Commander is associated with the Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier.

An MBA, the woman had got married to him in February 2012.

On Tuesday, she met the defence minister to complain about the incident and Antony promptly ordered a probe.

However, the navy has different version of the incident. “In her complaint to the MoD on April 26, she complaint about metal and physical torture and dowry demands. But nothing of `forced sex’ was there in her complaint. But we are looking into it,” said a navy official.

Several cases of sexual misconduct have come up against naval officer in the recent past and they have been dismissed from service by the ministry of defence.
