Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has accepted Pakistan's PM designate Imran Khan's invitation for his swearing-n ceremony is awaiting political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to cross the Wagah border to reach Pakistan. Imran Khan is scheduled to take oath as Prime Minister on August 18.

"Yes, I have received the invitation along with others. It is an honour. I would definitely like to go if I get permission from the Government of India," he said. To travel abroad, the ministers in the state government need to route official communication for permission to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Meanwhile, the MEA said they are yet to receive any request from anyone in India to attending the swearing-in.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, however, criticised his intent and said before visiting Pakistan, Sidhu, who is a cabinet minister in Punjab, should first visit the house of martyred major Kaustubh Rane.

Interestingly, Kapil Dev, who doesn't need permission, also said that he would attend the ceremony with the approval of the Indian government.
