The National Lok Adalat at District and Session Court, West Session Division Yupia Bench was headed by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hirendra Kashyap and district session judge Budi Habung. Habung in a communiqué today informed that Lok Adalats were an alternative dispute resolution mechanism where parties are encouraged to amicably settle cases outside the formal court system.

He said of 15 listed cases where Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Act 2011 is applicable, 11 were settled on Sunday.

Informing about the compensation scheme, Habung said that the quantum of compensation for loss of life is Rs two lakhs, one lakh for acid attack victims, 50,000 for rape and to victims who have been handicapped up to 80 %.
