Kerala High Court stays for two weeks framing of charges against Union minister Shashi Tharoor in the national anthem case.
Earlier, on Thurday, Tharoor pleaded that court proceedings against him in a case relating to alleged disrespect to the national anthem be stayed. A case against Tharoor is on in a lower court after a private complaint by Ernakulam-based rights activist Joy Kaitharath in which he was charged under Section 3 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1977.
In his complaint, Kaitharath had charged Tharoor with interrupting the national anthem at a bank function on December 16, 2008 and asking the audience to sing it while keeping the right hand on the left chest like the Americans.
