In the run up to Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a campaign to send messages to our soldiers who are at the frontlines. It is being viewed as a gesture to boost their morale, especially in the face of increased skirmishes across the border between India and Pakistan.
The messages can be submitted to the website mygov.in, by anyone who wants to send a message to the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Taking to Twitter, the PM said:
I sent my #Sandesh2Soldiers. You could also do the same. Your wishes will certainly make our forces very happy. https://t.co/TYuxNNJfIf

Actors Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar are amongst many who have already extended their wishes to the armed forces. Cricketer Virender Sehwag also posted a video in his trademark style and ended with an earnest "Aap hai toh hum hai. Jai Hind" (I am because you are. Jai Hind).
Here are some of the tweets for #Sandesh2Soldiers:

The Prime Minister had earlier spent the Diwali of 2015 with soldiers posted at the harsh terrain of Siachen.
Doordarshan will also be hosting programmes around the messages sent to the soldiers by civilians, as a part of an initiative to applaud the armed forces.
