After the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) criticised the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha for commemorating Nathuram Godse's death anniversary as 'Balidan Diwas', the extreme right wing outfit has lashed out at the Sangh, claiming it is the 'biggest traitor'.

According to an English news daily, Ashok Sharma, national vice-president of Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha, said, "The RSS is the biggest traitor that has betrayed not only the country but also the Hindus. Few are aware of the fact that the Hindu Mahasabha (HM) was the parent body of RSS. But, after Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in 1948, RSS leaders severed all ties with the Hindu Mahasabha and joined hands with Nehru and tried to distance themselves from Gandhi's killing. These are the real traitors who abandoned the HM when it was being persecuted for killing Gandhi."

On Sunday, RSS ideologue MS Vaidya had said in Nagpur, "I don't know which organization it is. But I am against honouring and giving respect to Nathuram Godse. He is a murderer."

Apart from accusing the RSS of being complicit in Mahatma Gandhi's murder, the Hindu Mahasabha claimed that the Sangh is only interested in power. Ashok Sharma said that the BJP, which has its ideological roots in the RSS, has betrayed the Hindus along with its parent organisation.

"Let me tell you, we have nothing to do with the BJP or any other offshoots of RSS. Time is not far when we will start exposing the RSS gradually and show how it played with the sentiments of Hindus to grab power. The BJP and the RSS have only used the anti-Muslim stance to garner votes. It hijacked issues started by the Hindu Mahasabha. For instance, it was the Hindu Mahasabha that put Lord Rama's idol in the Babri mosque on December 22, 1949. Even in police reports, the Hindu Mahasabha has been indicted for doing the same. Where was the BJP, Jana Sangh or RSS at that time?" Sharma added.

The Hindu Mahasabha also launched a website on Sunday, called 'Nathuram Godse - The Real Forgotten Hero'. The objective of the website is to inform Hindus about the 'good deeds' of Godse. The Hindu Mahasabha also conducted havan at 120 of its offices to mark Balidan Divas, says the report.
