Nashik: Anti-Corruption Bureau catches two policemen while accepting Rs 20,000 as a bribe

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught a police sub-inspector and a police constable attached to the Molgi police station in North Maharashtra's Nandurbar district red-handed while accepting a bribe in police station premises on Sunday. They were caught accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant for dropping a case against his 13-year-old son Gelsingh Vasave, an ACB press release stated on Monday.

Police sub-inspector Pravin Prataprao Bhosale and constable Amit Segaji Vasave of the Molgi police station allegedly demanded bribe of Rs 50,000 for not booking the complainant's son Gelsingh in a house-breaking case, after he was held on August 27.

After negotiations, the bribe amount was allegedly brought down to Rs 20,000. The complainant informed the ACB, whose officials laid a trap and caught both the policemen red-handed while accepting the bribe in the vincinity of the Molgi police station around 1.35 pm yesterday, the ACB release said.
