Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) member Narendra Patel on Tuesday filed a case against BJP state president Jitu Vaghani and several other leaders including Varun Patel, the PAAS leader, who recently joined BJP.

The case accuses Vaghani, BJP youth wing leader Rutwik Patel, party spokesperson Bharat Pandya, and Varun Patel of threatening and bribing him. The case filed in Gandhinagar district court states that Varun Patel and others took him to meet Vaghani in Gandhinagar. "Varun Patel first snatched my mobile and then they offered me Rs 1 crore as bribe to join the BJP," claims Patel in the petition.

The petition further states that when he initially refused to join the party, Vaghani and others threatened him of dire consequences. "They said that if I did not give in they would file false cases against me to teach me a lesson," claims Patel in the petition. Earlier in the week, Narendra Patel had held a press conference in which he revealed the bundle of money amounting to Rs10 lakh as the alleged bribe that the BJP had paid him to join the party.

This came close on the heels of two other Patidar leaders, Varun Patel and Reshma Patel, joining the party. It was only hours before the press conference that Narendra Patel had joined the BJP. He had later claimed that it was done to expose the BJP.

Allegation

Narendra Patel alleged BJP state president and others tried to bribe him with Rs 1 crore, and on refusal, threatened him with dire consequences.
