Narendra Modi will have a stronger PMO than that of Manmohan Singh: Arun Shourie

BJP leader Arun Shourie's is likely to gain a prominent position in the Narendra Modi cabinet. 

Although he has denied these rumours in his interview on NDTV, he speaks about the priorities and challenges of the new government in the Centre.

In the interview, he spoke about what would top Narendra Modi's list of priorities for economic policies. He said, “The organisation of the Prime Minister's office should be Modi's priority.”

He also said that, “Modi will empower and give confidence of secretaries.”

Comparing Modi to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he claimed that, “Modi will have a stronger PMO than that of Manmohan Singh, and more senior ranks will be possible under Modi.”

He also elaborated on his aspirations from Narendra Modi as prime minister. He said, “Hope Modi will be like Margaret Thatcher on economic policies.” He added that “Sonia Gandhi was not as well informed, as Modi is on policies and projects. His 12 years of experience in Gujarat will lead him to make bold decisions,” he commented.

He also took a bold stand on the rumours of the removal of the Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan. He says that, Rajan should not be replaced as he is a professional trying his best. His role has helped India develop. He is right in not lowering interest rates in a hurry as the government must have first credible fiscal containment programme.
