Narendra Modi shares farmers pain in Parliament

Every government has done whatever possible to prevent the farmers to resort to suicide and he too is ready to go for any other decisions as "we can't leave the farmer as helpless to fend for himself. Nothing is bigger than the life of a Kisan, the life of Insan (person)," Modi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was sharing extreme pain over a Rajasthan farmer's suicide who hanged himself from a tree at an AAP rally on Wednesday. Welcoming a collective resolve emerging from an impromptu discussion on the issue, he called for suggestions to end farmer's distress and spate of suicides. Modi said these problems are 'deep-rooted' and must be addressed collectively for which he is open to suggestions.

He walked into the Lok Sabha when home minister Rajnath Singh was responding to an hour-long debate and spoke briefly to offer readiness to implement suggestions that solves the congenial and widespread problem of suicides by farmers for the past many years.

Suicide of Gajendra Singh Rajput dominated both the Houses of Parliament, overtaking the opening day's business in the Rajya Sabha that started a new session on Thursday as all work was suspended to discuss it whole of the day on a motion by Opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.
