The BJP-led NDA government on Monday blinked to the demands of the civil services aspirants by principally agreeing not to include the marks of the question-section on "English Language comprehension skills" in preliminary examination paper II and giving one more attempt in 2015 to those who appeared in 2011 exam.

However, even this tapering down by the government failed to woo the agitating students who claimed that their demand was to scrap the CSAT completely, advance the date of preliminary exam and not the piecemeal relief of removing English comprehension skills test.

With opposition political parties also joining the conundrum by blaming government for not heeding to genuine demands of the aspirants an early solution to the vexed problem does not seem to in sight.

"Government is of the opinion that in the civil services, preliminary examination, paper II, the marks of the question section on English Language comprehension skills should not be included for gradation or merit.

And, the candidates who appeared in the civil services examination 2011, may be given one more attempt in 2015," minister of state for ministry of personnel, PG and pensions Jitendra Singh said in a statement in the parliament.

The minister's statement did not cut any ice with the agitating students who converged even in more force at Delhi's Hyde Park – Jantar Mantar. One of the main leaders of the agitating aspirants, Pawan Pandey told dna that they are not going to take back their movement unless the government accedes to their demands in full.
