In what looks like a new twist in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case, a witness has told the CBI that a serving Maharashtra police officer might be involved in the crime

According to Mumbai Mirror, a police inspector, with ultra-right wing inclination, currently serving in Pune had been part of the conspiracy to murder Dabholkar.

The CBI has access to all the call records which indicate that he had been in touch with the main accused Virendra Tawde even before Dabholkar's murder, which took place on August 20, 2013.

A key witness testified before a magistrate under CrPC 164 and told the CBI sleuths that Tawde got the firearms which he was used in the killing. Tawde had approached the witness to get the firearms replicated but ended using the same weapons.

The report says that the witness had tried to approach other police officers regarding the alleged involvement of the Pune officer but they did not pay attention the information.
