Two days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered a probe into the controversial Narada tapes, the Kolkata mayor's wife Ratna Chatterjee registered a complaint against Narada CEO Mathew Samuel and the news portal Narada News on Sunday.
The complainant, Chatterjee, registered an FIR at Kolkata's New Market police station. Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee along with other senior party leaders and ministers of the Trinamool Congress, including one IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre were seen accepting bribes in the sting shot by Narada.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police has set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the Narada tapes headed by Commissioner Rajeev Kumar. It will comprise other senior IPS officers, including the Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police (Crime), Vishal Garg.
Calcutta High Court is hearing the case after three PILs were filed in connection with the tapes.
