In a late night development, Narada news CEO, Mathew Samuel was released after being detained at the Delhi airport on Saturday.

In a communication from Kolkata Police to the Delhi Police, the agency asked Samuel to be released immediately in view of the Calcutta High court's order. Not detaining him or examining him, in view of Hon'ble High Court verbal order yesterday. He has been asked to be released and fax for the same has been sent too," said Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police (Crime), Vishal Garg.

Samuel was on his way from Dubai, when he was detained by the immigration department following a lookout notice issued by the Kolkata Police. Kolkata Police had issued two lookout notices after the state government had ordered a probe into the Narada tapes.  However, Samuel told Zee 24 Ghanta over the phone that the detention was a violation of the High Court's order that had directed the Kolkata Police to discontinue the investigation for the time being.  "As soon as I reached the Delhi airport around 6.30pm, I was taken to the detention cell. Despite informing the immigration officials that the Calcutta High Court has said that a parallel investigation cannot be carried out for the time being," said Samuel.

"This is a complete violation of the court's order. The investigating agency should have revoked the lookout notice. The detention is completely illegal," said Shamim Ahmed, counsel of Samuel.
