In the Bharatiya Janata Party's outreach programme ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally reaching out to voters through the NaMo app. The app has been equipped with a new feature where the PM appeals for "direct feedback" from citizens through a survey that enables citizens to maintain a report card for the government and its party leaders.

PM Modi has already taken to social media, apprising voters about the survey and the significant role the electorate plays in elections. "I want your direct feedback through the survey on the NaMo app. Your feedback matters. Your feedback on various issues will help us take important decisions," the Prime Minister appeals in a video posted on Facebook and Twitter. "Will you all fill that survey and also urge others to do so," he asks. The detailed survey, spread across nine different parameters, asks people to rate the government, local BJP leaders and also has questions for the opposition — they ask whether the "mahagatbandhan" in their area will work.

BJP leaders have hailed the new initiative, saying the survey is important as it will offer insight about important issues for the general election. The leaders feel that it will also play a part in the selection of candidates, indicating that parliamentarians who have performed poorly, may also be dropped, sources claim.

The survey begins by asking respondents to rate the government on various promises like - affordable healthcare, "farmer prosperity", corruption-free governance, Swachh Bharat, national security, economy, infrastructure creation, uplifting the poor and marginalised, job opportunities and rural electrification. The respondents also have the option to rate the government over various promises made by it. For instance, the survey asks, "How do you rate the performance of the Modi government?'

Different questions in survey

1. Which of the following issues is of prime consideration when you are voting - cleanliness, employment, education, law and order, price rise, corruption, farmer welfare?

2. Name three most popular BJP leaders in your constituency

3. Do you think the working culture of the government of India is improving? ('yes' or 'no' question)

4. Are you feeling more optimistic than before about India's future?

5. Do you see any impact of the proposed mahagatbandhan in your constituency?

Congress president Rahul Gandhi had also launched an app during the recently concluded Assembly polls in the heartland. The app Shakti sought feedback from lakhs of Congress workers about the possible CM candidate in the three states where the party registered win in these elections.
