Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nalin Kohli on Friday condemned film director Ram Gopal Verma's atheist tweet on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, saying he should apologise as he is hurting religious sentiments of the people.

"On a day when crores of people are with fervor and happiness celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, this is highly condemnable that someone like Ram Gopal Verma if his Twitter account is true and as I have been told is making comments like this against the celebration of this festival and going ahead then and considering people who are celebrating it as morons. He is hurting religious sentiments of the people," Kohli told ANI here.

"And I am sure the authorities will take note of it and action will be taken. Additionally, he should unequivocally apologise for these kinds of statements," he added. The filmmaker has been highly criticized on the social media for his unwarranted tweet on the microblogging site on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

"The guy who couldn't save his own head from being cut , how he will save others heads is my question? But Happy Ganpathi day to morons!" Verma wrote on twitter. Meanwhile, Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated across the country today with great fervor and joy.
