The Delhi's Lt Governor Najeeb Jung asked the Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday to prepare case studies of big projects which got delayed in the past and use that data for faster execution of projects in future.
Reviewing the schemes and projects announced by the Union Finance Minister in Delhi's budget (2014-15), Jung directed the Secretary (Health) to ensure that the required infrastructure is in place and the faculty gets recruited in time so that the new Medical College at Rohini is able to start intake of students from the next academic session.
"He further directed that 400 hospital beds which are planned to be added in the government hospitals this year must be done without fail and Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital at Tahirpur be made operational at the earliest. Addition of 1,000 more beds should be done expeditiously," LG house officials said.
Jung was informed that the land for the new-multi speciality hospital in South Delhi has been identified at Sarita Vihar and the work on the project will start soon.
Secretary (Health), SCL Das said that 30 dialysis units have started and 50 new dialysis units under PPP mode will start functioning soon in the Government Hospitals.
Delhi government has also received tenders for 110 new ambulances fitted with state-of-the-art life support equipment and work will be awarded soon.
"Jung was also informed that the work of setting up these crisis management and rehabilitation centres for victims of sexual assault is on track and they will be made operational in each district. Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development was asked to identify land and work together for setting up more such centres," officials said.
While reviewing the projects of Education Department, Jung laid special emphasis on providing fully functional and clean toilets in all schools.
"He directed that the principal of the concerned school must be directly made accountable for lack of such facility in any of the schools and laxity must be dealt with strictly," officials said.
Officials informed him that construction work of 10 new schools have already been awarded and process of sanction of 10 new school buildings is under process.
The Lt Governor directed that a Senior Secondary School exclusively for girls should be set up in all Assembly Constituencies. He also laid special emphasis on teaching of Urdu, Punjabi and Sanskrit and directed that the posts of Urdu, Punjabi and Sanskrit teachers be filled up on priority in the schools.
For this, the Vice Chancellors of Universities teaching these languages should be approached so that quality manpower is recruited, he said.
Principal Secretary, Higher Education informed that the work of setting up of new School of Planning and Architecture in East Delhi and National Institute of Technology in Narela are being taken up on priority.
The land for these two institutions has been identified.
Jung directed that adequate facilities be provided to senior citizens for submission of their applications for Old Age Pension like online mode through website and direct submission of applications at the counters as reviewed the schemes of the Department of Social Welfare.
The LG also directed officials to complete the work of new old age homes, working women hostels and homes for mentally challenged and directed Secretary (PWD) to pay special attention to such projects.
Jung was also said that the scheme to provide financial support to children of incarcerated parents is ready and will be notified in a couple of days.
Jung also directed Principal Secretary (Finance) to ensure that adequate financial resources are provided for these projects and all the inter-departmental issues must be resolved expeditiously by all concerned.
