After Jayashree Kamble, Port Inspector of Vasai complained to the Vasai police and the boat owner Ganesh Patil now has been booked under section 304(A)(causing death due to negligence), 280(rash navigation of vessel), 282(conveying person by water for hire in unsafe or overloaded vessel) of the Indian Penal Code.

The only way to the island village of Panju is through boat ferry service which is without any safety measures and often overloaded risking lives of villagers.

"It has been our long pending demand for an alternate route for the villagers but government did not pay any heed to our requests while we had demanded for adequate ferry services with more capacity while in rainy season it becomes more risky for us to commute", said Balaram Bhoir, a resident of the village.

"The kids, pregnant women and senior citizens are affected the most as they are unable to commute and the ferry services are stopped after 10pm which means that during emergencies we have to walk from the old Naigaon railway bridge for 30 minutes to seek help", said Bhoir.
