Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu today launched a scheme to make villages in Rajasthan open defecation free.

The Union urban development minister launched the scheme in Titarwasa village of Jhalawar district, which has been adopted by him under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, in presence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

"The villages will become clean under the Mukhyamantri Swachh Gram Yojna," Naidu said.

Asserting that Rajasthan is no more a Bimaru state and has become progressive, he said, "The NDA government has taken a series of measures to promote agriculture and allied sectors in view of the declining contribution of these sectors to the GDP."

He also highlighted the schemes initiated by the government for the welfare of farmers.

Raje said under the Swachh Gram Yojna, garbage will be collected door to door in selected gram panchayats.

State transport minister Yunus Khan, urban development and housing minister Srichand Kriplani, MP Dushyant Singh and others were present on the occasion.
