Workers allegedly belonging to Bajrang Dal attacked Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students’ union leader Kanhaiya Kumar's car on Thursday when he arrived in Nagpur to address a public meeting, reports ANI.

Kanhaiya's car was attacked by workers who pelted stones. Police have detained five people in this connection.

Kanhaiya is in Nagpur to address a meeting to mark 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. In the past, Kanhaiya has often spoke about being influenced by Ambedkar's ideals.

The meeting has been organised by the Progressive Students’ Youth Action Committee. Several right-wing organisations have threatened to foil Kanhaiya's meeting in Nagpur. The orange city is the headquarter of RSS and Kanhaiya in his speeches has severely criticised the organisation. Kanhaiya Kumar shot to fame after Delhi Police slapped sedition charges against him and other students for 'anti- India' speeches inside the JNU campus. He was arrested and later released on bail.
