Bringing to fruition his efforts in stitching the larger coalition together, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu held meetings with several leaders before and after the third front meet on Monday.
The first leader who Naidu called upon was West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who he thanked for her participation. Naidu also met National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, and Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar during the course of the day.
Just before he headed to the Opposition meeting, Naidu held a quick meeting with Congress leader Ahmed Patel with whom he has been planning the meeting of third front leaders over the last few days.
During the meeting he spoke on a range of issues and true to his style, Naidu showed leaders a powerpoint presentation titled, "Save The Nation, Save Democracy". The PPT entailed 19 points where he alleged the BJP government has failed, including MSP, fuel hike, Rafale deal row, demonetisation, CBI crisis, and GST, among others.
He also spoke at length about the failures of several Central government schemes, including the crop insurance scheme. He also pointed out that 14 positions in key industry bodies and five in resource-rich ministries lie with officers from Gujarat. He also questioned PM Narendra Modi for not holding a single press conference after he took over.
After the meet, Naidu left for the airport to leave for Amravati and on the way, he met with JD(S) leader HD Devegowda.
