A 48-year-old Dalit man, who had been missing since Sunday, was found hanging from a tree at Raee village in the district, with the police suspecting that he was murdered. Mangey Ram's body was found hanging from a tree in Chapar police station area on Monday, police said.

A case has been registered in this regard against five persons-- Tiripal, Mahender, Anil, Jolly and Sunil-- who are absconding, they said. The case has been registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Mangey Ram's son.

It is suspected that Ram was strangled to death by the accused and his body was later hanged from the tree to make it look like a case of suicide, they said.
