All India Sunni Jam-iyyathul Ulama, a Muslim outfit, has asked the community to reject the reported call of Al-Qaeda to expand its activities in India.

The call would not have any impact in the country, the outfit's General Secretary Kanthapuram AP Abubaker Musaliar said at a function in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

The country's constitution is strong enough to protect the interest of minorities and there is no need for any help of any external forces, he said .

The call of organisations like Al-Qaeda would not protect the country's interests, he said, adding, "it would only lead to making the minority community enemy of major communities". Al-Qaeda, in a recent video, has purportedly threatened to take the terror outfit's campaign to India.
