A 24-year-old woman has registered a police complaint alleging she was sexually harassed by a staff member of the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.

The Mahim Police have charged the official, Rajesh Rao, 50, secretary to the hospital board, under Section 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code, according to a Mid-Day report. He has not been arrested yet.

The woman's brother had an accident in Thane and was admitted to the hospital in February. A few days before being discharged, the woman came to know about the discount services given by hospital. She met with Rao who looked after the discount services programme.

The woman said to the police that Rao asked her out on a date and even demanded sexual favours for the discount on the bill.

The police is looking at the CCTV footage from the hospital to investigate the case.
