Mumbai University says students who missed exams due to rains can reappear, schedule soon

Incessant rains have thrown the normal life out of gear in Mumbai as waterlogging caused heavy traffic jams on the roads and train services were affected due to collapse of railway bridge.

The Mumbai University on Tuesday said that students who missed the examinations due to heavy rains in the city can reappear later. The university said in a statement that schedule of fresh exams will be announced soon.

Incessant rains have been lashing India's financial capital since morning, throwing the normal life out of gear as waterlogging caused heavy traffic jams on the roads and train services were affected due to collapse of railway bridge. Many students who were due to appear in the exams failed to do so. 

Collapse of a road over-bridge in Andheri crippled the Western Railway's local train services.

"Re-examination will be conducted for the students who could not reach exam centres of Mumbai University due to heavy rainfall and Andheri bridge collapse. The timetable will be announced soon,” Vinod Malale, deputy registrar, Public Relations, said. 

Here are the Mumbai University exams which were conducted on Tuesday: 

Morning 

1. MA Sem III: 2  Examination Centre.

2. LLB Sem I: College Exam, 48 Centres, KT Examination

Afternoon

1. MA Sem III Choice base:  1 centre , KT Examination

2. LLB Sem V: 48 Centres,  students, Repeater 

3 & 4. MA &  MSc Sem III: Research (Choice base ), 10 centers

Practical Examinations: 

1. MSc  Sem II : All Centres ( Bio technology, Micro biology, Physics)

2. M.Sc Sem IV : All Centres ( Bio analytical Science, Botany, Organic chemistry, Physical Chemistry, EVS science, IT, Life Science, Nutraceuticals, Stats, Zoology, Oceanography, Zoology ( Animal Physiology) ) All Centre

3. MCA Sem VI ( IDOL and College)

Mumbai rains updates:

 

A road overbridge (ROB) in Andheri collapsed this morning due to heavy rains, bringing to a halt the local train services and affecting some long distance trains that caused huge inconvenience to the commuters.

Five people were injured, two of them seriously, in the incident that took place at around 7.30 am, the Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

Due to the collapse, local train services of the Western Railway were stopped, causing huge inconvenience to the daily commuters, for whom local train services are the lifeline. Some long distance express trains were cancelled and rescheduled because of the ROB collapse.
